Ukrainian troops entered the city to joyous scenes on Friday after Russian troops pulled back across the Dnipro river, south towards Crimea. They had occupied the city since the early days of their invasion in February and Russian President Vladimir Putin had named Kherson as one of four partially occupied Ukrainian regions that would be annexed and become part of Russia at the end of September. However, just over a month later his troops withdrew from Kherson, a key strategic city near the mouth of the Dnipro. During the visit, Zelensky was greeted with cheers of ‘Slava Ukraini’ (Glory to Ukraine!) and joked that he had come to the city to get watermelon – the foodstuff the Kherson region is famous for. Il rappresentante russo ha anche fatto alcuni commenti…E dopo, quasi 100 missili russi hanno colpito l’Ucraina. Edifici residenziali bruciati. Centrali distrutte di nuovo. Centinaia di città sono rimaste senza elettricità, acqua e riscaldamento. Sfortunatamente, ci sono vittime umane. E non solo in Ucraina. I missili russi hanno colpito ieri il territorio della vicina Polonia. Dovrebbe esserci una risposta rapida”. Lo ha detto il presidente ucraino, Volodymyr Zelensky, in un nuovo videocollegamento con il G20 di Bali che, come ieri, chiama G19, escludendo appunto la Russia. Secondo Zelensky “questo attacco missilistico è il vero messaggio della Russia al G20. Quindi quando dico G19, non mi sbaglio. Perchè la Russia è un Paese terrorista e noi da questo dobbiamo proteggerci. E’ questa la realtà”.
